What are the hottest trends we’re seeing in the housewares industry this season? With our two most important trade shows behind us this year, here are our predictions for the biggest fashions we will be seeing on the shelves and in kitchens this year.
The copper trend was the all-consuming hit of 2016, with brassy copper tones being seen everywhere from copper coloured pots and pans, tools, gadgets and accessories. In 2017, we are seeing a shift from the stark coppers to softer metallic colour ways. Gentle metallic shades such as champagne, rose gold & umber are taking centre stage, while still allowing for splashes of understated copper (such as our Anolon Nouvelle range, accented with a copper plate).
We displayed the new Anolon Advanced Plus range in a head turning Umber at Spring fair 17 and Ambiente 17, to positive reviews. The range comes with a complimenting range of tools, gadgets, knives and two tone bakeware.
With geometric patterns prevailing over creative from packaging to fashion, we’re unsurprised to see geometric textures making their entrance into housewares categories this year. This trend will absolutely be one to watch. We were excited to debut our textured kettles at Spring fair 17 to much interest, we showed them in 3 key colours; white with rose gold being our blend of two leading trends of 2017.
The future is bright and decadent with products dripping in glamour: jewel tones are the antidote to harsh and austere recession palettes. The allure of deep amethysts and emeralds paired with accents of precious metals harks to a classic aesthetic. We showcased our Prestige Prism range this year in Aubergine, Copper and Silver – deeply pigmented shades for a glittering kitchen.
Minimalism: Function over Form
Big ticket books last year such as “the art of tidying up” pointed to a growing trend towards less. Durability, function, hard wearing construction, future proof innovation, lifetime guarantees – these are the call outs to a consumer who cares about investing in their possessions long term. Our continued commitment to product quality was seen in all of our offerings this year, with minimalist offerings such as Prestige Moments, Circulon Ultimum & Anolon Nouvelle.
